Confirm the complete requirement
Record the full part number, manufacturer, package, quantity, acceptable date or lot requirements and required delivery schedule. Small suffix differences can indicate a different package, temperature grade or shipping format.
Evaluate the source, not only the offer
A low price or short lead time should not replace source verification. Buyers should review traceability, storage history, packaging condition and the inspection options available before confirming an order.
Agree on an inspection plan
Visual inspection may be appropriate for an initial review, while higher-risk projects can require X-ray, solderability, decapsulation or functional testing. The required level should reflect the application and sourcing risk.
When an alternative part is being considered, it should only be adopted after the customer’s engineering team confirms electrical, mechanical and software compatibility.
